With Turquoise on Sunrise Drive, the Foothills Pours Wine Every Night of the Week

November 5, 2026

A 1,500-square-foot room at 4772 E. Sunrise Drive pours flights of three two-ounce glasses. The wine list rotates every month, and on Friday nights there's an acoustic set. The room is Turquoise Wine Bar Catalina Foothills in Sunrise Village. It's the brand's first Tucson location, and Heather Chaykowski owns it. The Chamber of Southern Arizona held the grand opening and ribbon cutting there, describing the bar's offer as "thoughtfully selected wines, tasting flights, craft beers, and elevated shareable bites."

Turquoise matters to the neighborhood because of when it's open. Before Turquoise opened, the Foothills' dedicated tasting room kept late-afternoon-and-evening hours and closed on Mondays. Turquoise covers the daytime hours, and a resort lounge two miles west on the same road handles Monday. Taken together, the Foothills now pours wine every night of the week, and each of the three rooms does a different job.

Opening Into a Slowing Market

Wine isn't an obvious category to open in right now. In a December 4, 2025 release, the Wine Market Council reported that the share of legal-drinking-age Americans who drink wine at least every two to three months fell from 34% to 29%. The council puts that at about nine million fewer adult wine consumers than in 2023.

Tucson keeps adding tasting rooms anyway. The Arizona Daily Star noted that wine consumption and production have slowed nationwide even as the Tucson area has seen several wine-tasting shops open over the past couple of years. The Star listed A. Toraño Wines in Broadway Village, Turquoise on Sunrise, a planned Los Milics Vineyards tasting room at Uptown on Ina Road and La Cholla Boulevard, and UnWined, which leased space at 6536 E. Tanque Verde Road and expects to open early next year.

For the Foothills, the wider trend matters less than what it filled in close to home. Turquoise didn't open in a neighborhood without wine. It opened in one with wine on fewer nights and at fewer hours.

How the Week Now Divides

Here's the week by day, based on each venue's posted hours:

  • Monday: Turquoise and Arizona Wine Collective are both closed. The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa runs its Monday "Pair & Share" from 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday: Turquoise is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Arizona Wine Collective is open 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Thursday: Turquoise is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Arizona Wine Collective is open 4 to 9 p.m.
  • Friday: Turquoise is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Arizona Wine Collective is open 4 to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: Turquoise is open noon to 10 p.m. Arizona Wine Collective is open noon to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday: Turquoise is open noon to 5 p.m. Arizona Wine Collective is open noon to 6 p.m., so it pours later of the two.

The split follows from the hours. On weekdays Turquoise is the only one of the two bars open before 4 p.m., which makes it the choice for a lunch glass. On Friday and Saturday it also stays open an hour later than its Campbell Avenue counterpart. On Sunday the order reverses, and the last pour is at St. Philip's Plaza.

Turquoise and the Weekday Afternoon

Turquoise runs happy hour Tuesday through Friday, 3 to 6 p.m., according to its OpenTable listing. The brand's published menu lists $7 house wine and $10 spritzes and sangrias at happy hour. Popcorn is $5, marinated olives and pretzel bites are $9, and hummus or corn dip is $11. The menu notes that prices may vary by location. Beyond wine, the regular menu includes sangrias, spritzes, nonalcoholic drinks, appetizers, sandwiches, salads and pizza, according to the Arizona Daily Star's opening report.

The Star quoted Chaykowski's statement ahead of the opening. "We are incredibly excited to become part of the Catalina Foothills and greater Tucson community and look forward to building relationships with local residents, businesses, and community leaders for years to come," she said.

Turquoise is a franchise brand with locations in Arizona and Texas, founded by Jen Sinconis and Laura Hernandez. Its wine list draws from around the world and changes monthly. Arizona Wine Collective works differently.

Arizona Wine Collective and the Arizona-Only List

Arizona Wine Collective is at 4280 N. Campbell Ave., Suite 155, in St. Philip's Plaza. It pours only Arizona wine, from Sonoita, Willcox and the Verde Valley, and the list changes twice a week. The patio is shaded and pet-friendly. Recent pours have included Chateau Tumbleweed, Jumping Cholla, Brigand Wines, Page Springs Cellars, Skyhaven Wines, Deep Sky Vineyard and Tirrito Farm.

Tastings come in three sizes: three wines for $15, five for $25, or five with a souvenir glass for $35. That's $5 a pour either way, so the five-pour flight doesn't cost less per glass. It just covers more of the list. With a list that turns over twice a week, two visits a week apart can mean two different tastings.

The Collective dates its founding to 2018. Michelle and Dave Boudreau took over as owners in 2024.

For a Foothills household, the two bars split the job between them. Turquoise pours a monthly selection from around the world, starting late in the morning. The Collective pours what's coming out of Arizona's own wine regions, starting late in the afternoon. One serves a lunch glass and the other a late-afternoon tasting.

Monday Moves West on Sunrise

With both bars closed Mondays, the Westin La Paloma's Casa 71 Tequila Lounge at 3800 E. Sunrise Drive covers the night. The Monday "Pair & Share" special is an artisan pizza and a glass of house wine for $20, which the resort calls "perfect for two." The pizza is either a Margherita or The Swine, topped with sausage, bacon and pepperoni.

The Westin's event listing runs the Monday special from 6 p.m. and schedules it through December 31, 2026. The lounge's main draw is a collection of 71 premium tequilas and mezcals. The Monday wine special is one of its nightly specials.

The Rest of November, Night by Night

From this week through November 30, the dated wine nights in the Foothills fall like this:

  1. Monday, November 9: Pair & Share at Casa 71, Westin La Paloma, from 6 p.m.
  2. Monday, November 16: Pair & Share at Casa 71.
  3. Friday, November 20: Chris Alone plays acoustic '90s rock, including Matchbox Twenty, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Tonic and Vertical Horizon, at Turquoise, 7 to 9 p.m.
  4. Monday, November 23: Pair & Share at Casa 71.
  5. Friday, November 27: Sean Lewis covers songs from the Beatles and the Eagles to John Mayer, Jack Johnson and Chris Stapleton at Turquoise, 6 to 8 p.m.
  6. Monday, November 30: Pair & Share at Casa 71.

Both Friday sets take reservations through the Turquoise events page. The November 27 set falls the day after Thanksgiving, which makes it an easy evening out with visiting family.

What the Turquoise Club Adds Up To

Turquoise's Catalina Foothills wine club is free to join. There are three monthly tiers: Signature at one bottle, Explorer at two and Somm at four. There's no membership fee, so members pay only for the bottles they receive, which the bar says will average $30 to $35 each. At those averages, Signature comes to about $30 to $35 a month and Somm to about $120 to $140. Members get a 10% to 20% in-store discount, a monthly complimentary tasting, access to VIP parties and socials, and a wine tote.

The monthly complimentary tasting is the one benefit that brings members back to Sunrise Village on a regular schedule. Everything else on the list is a discount or a perk.

Knowing which corner of the Foothills is open on a Monday, or at 2 p.m. on a Wednesday, is part of knowing the neighborhood day to day, and that's the knowledge Thalia Kyriakis brings to every conversation about Foothills homes. If you're thinking about where your next address in the Catalina Foothills should be, or what your current one is worth, request a confidential consultation or home valuation.
